How to Install WuCai Highlight on Edge Mobile — Highlight Any Web Page on Your Phone
Most of the articles you actually read are opened on a phone — on a commute, in a queue, between meetings. Yet highlighting and saving what matters is still treated as a desktop problem. The plugin lives on the laptop, the phone gets a bookmark, and the bookmark gets lost. This guide is about fixing exactly that: installing WuCai Highlight straight inside the Edge mobile browser and highlighting web pages where you read them.
Why mobile web highlighting is still painful
These are the gaps WuCai closes on a phone:
- You read on the phone but can't mark anything. The only built-in option is "Add to favorites", which keeps a link and throws away why the page mattered. A saved link you can't search by idea is a link you'll never open again.
- The highlighter is on the desktop, the reading is on the phone. A lot of people installed a highlighting extension on their computer years ago and assumed the phone had it too. It didn't. Two devices, two separate memories of the same article.
- Installing used to mean a laptop. Browser extensions live in desktop stores; mobile users were told to "install on desktop first". That step is gone now — WuCai installs directly in the mobile browser.
- Highlights stay trapped on one device. Even when you mark something, it rarely follows you to the next screen. WuCai stores highlights in your account, not in the tab, so they survive closing the page and show up on every other device.
- Touch highlighting is clumsy. A finger is not a mouse. WuCai supports finger, stylus and mouse input, and a double-tap highlights a whole paragraph, which is the one-handed move that makes phone reading bearable.
Install WuCai Highlight in Edge mobile

The screenshot above is the system Extensions panel on iOS, where WuCai appears as "五彩 - 网页划线高亮批注工具" with a Get button. On iOS every browser — including Edge — runs on Apple's WebKit, so the extension you enable here is the same one Edge mobile uses.
- Android Edge: tap
⋯→ Extensions (or Add-ons), search for WuCai Highlight, and tap Add. No desktop, no workaround. - iOS Edge / Safari: install WuCai for Safari from the App Store, then open Settings → Safari → Extensions, tap WuCai and enable it. Because Edge on iOS is WebKit-based, it works inside Edge too.
After that, open any article in Edge mobile, select a sentence, and the WuCai toolbar appears with colours, a note field and tags.
What you get once it's installed
- Highlights in your account, not the tab. Close the page, switch phones, reinstall the browser — the highlights are still there.
- Sync across phone, tablet and desktop. Sign in with the same WuCai account and the same highlights, colours, notes and tags appear everywhere, plus in the WuCai dashboard.
- One-handed reading. Double-tap a paragraph to highlight it; turn the option on in WuCai preferences.
- Stylus and mouse too. Whatever you use to read, WuCai takes the input.
- A path to your notes app. Highlights can sync to Obsidian, SiYuan, Logseq, flomo and Workflowy, so phone reading feeds the notes you actually write — see the Obsidian sync guide.
